The Wildcat coaching staff is excited to introduce our 2025 captains.
There is no doubt the 2026 senior class will accomplish big things. With 6 seniors graduated in 2024, the program is excited to be returning a significant amount of the varsity roster with further depth and development. Our 4 captains were chosen by the coaches after an application and interview process, and are now spending the summer in a leadership study with the coaching staff. This summer the captains are reading “Championship Behaviors” by Hugh McCutcheon. The captains and coaches will directly apply this knowledge to the program with weekly lessons and team building opportunities. The captains’ desire is to be servant leaders, and their expectations are outlined here.
When asked why they wanted to be a captain, here were their responses:

“I would like to be a captain because I want to help build a program that is strong together and has a good relationship with one another. I want to set a good example for the younger players that are new to the program. I would like to set the standard for what it looks like to be a good teammate and a good friend.”

“I would love to be a captain because it would be a great opportunity to grow my connections and relationships with the girls in the program. It is important to me to make everyone feel like they are supported and a part of our team. I also want to set an example of what it means to be a hard worker and a great teammate. I hope to make the younger players feel comfortable around me and feel like they can come to me for anything. Over the years, the captains have shown me how important this role is and made it my dream to lead in that same way.”

“I would like to be a captain because I have dreamt of it ever since I came to the LARA youth nights. Being captain would show how important volleyball is to me, and give me the opportunity to lead on the court, in the weight room, with younger athletes, and in the classroom. I also want to be that older team leader that the younger girls look up to and inspire to be.”
2025 is going to be an absolutely excellent year for Wildcat volleyball with these four in the lead. We can’t wait to be back in the gym together!
